The Space to Write | Everyday Inspiration

Day Six: Where do you write? What is your ideal setting?

As I write this, I am sitting on a comfy chair at our dining table and a warm coffee by the side (while waiting for my laundry to finish haha). Of course, I wouldn’t miss the laptop in front of me as I type these down. Is this my ideal setting? Almost. Here are few of the essentials I need when writing:

Tools. I may write on a piece of paper or notebook or my tablet or my laptop. I would always prefer the laptop, since it’s the easiest and the fastest way. However, when the mood strikes, whatever comes handy would do.

Internet connection. English is not my first language, so my grammar and vocabulary are not that wide. I need the Internet for correcting my grammar and finding the right words and/or phrases to better express my thoughts to my readers. Also, I’m not a photographer. As I’ve indicated in my About Me page, I sometimes use photos from other sites with, of course, credits to the owners. Below are three sites I’ve used so far since I began blogging:

Whatever else I need, I just Google them.

Setup. When writing with pen and paper or laptop, I prefer the table and chair setup. When using the tablet, I could either write on the sofa or even on my bed — wherever it’s comfortable.

Music. This may depend on my mood. Sometimes I prefer whatever I have in my Spotify playlist. Sometimes I prefer having random ones — soft or loud. I wouldn’t hear them, anyway, especially when I’m truly focused in my writing. Some other times, I prefer just the quiet —  like now, for example.

Coffee. Oh, this is the very essential one.

It keeps me awake. It keeps me focused. But most of all, it completes my day.

Time. I’m not a fast writer. I need time to construct whatever I have in mind before putting them into words. Sometimes, a minimum of one hour would be enough. More, for long writings. There’s also the time needed to polish my work, add pictures and the like.

Well, I guess that’s all of them.

Now, to my reader, if you’re interested in my writing, I’m also interested in what you think. I would love to hear from you and what you want to suggest for my next post. Please visit my Contact Me page to submit them. Thank you so much! 🙂
